We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to provide maternity leave coverage in an elementary setting for the upcoming school year. The assignment is located close to Waukegan, IL, and will be onsite from August 17 (or as soon as possible) through September 28, working 21–28 hours per week across 3–4 days.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services to students in alignment with Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
  • Collaborate with special education staff and classroom teams to promote student participation and access in self-contained autism programs.
  • Support the development of student functional skills and engagement within educational routines.
  • Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with school and district policies.
  • Participate in team meetings, sharing insights and strategies for student success.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program.
  • Certified or eligible for certification by the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA) with current Illinois state licensure.
  • Pediatric or previous school-based experience is highly valued.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to supporting students and staff.
