Exciting opportunity available for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students across a district-wide, school-based setting near New Britain, CT. This full-time contract position begins August 27, 2026, coinciding with the start of the school year, with an anticipated duration of approximately 12 weeks to cover an FMLA leave—potential for extension exists. The COTA will work collaboratively under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to ensure continuity of occupational therapy services for students from Pre-K through 12th grade.

Qualifications

  • Active COTA certification and CT DPH license; successful completion of NBCOT exam
  • Prior experience in a school-based environment is preferred
  • Comfortable working with diverse populations and various age groups
  • Reliable transportation to travel district-wide is required
  • Strong documentation skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities
  • Responsibilities

  • Provide direct therapy services to students, implementing individualized treatment plans
  • Support students’ IEP goals and document progress according to school and district guidelines
  • Collaborate with supervising Occupational Therapist, educators, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Adapt therapy strategies to meet the unique needs of students with varying disabilities
  • Maintain detailed records and contribute to progress reviews
  • Travel to multiple campuses as necessary to deliver services across the district
