Step into a rewarding contract opportunity assisting students of all ages as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) in a vibrant district near Des Plaines, IL. You'll serve in an itinerant capacity, working across multiple school sites—ranging from elementary to high school—providing crucial support to students from pre-K through transition age (up to 22). The district values hands-on, on-site expertise, as this position is not open to virtual/remote assignment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Active clinical license from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Current Illinois licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)
  • Previous school-based experience is strongly preferred
  • Prepared to complete time-sensitive fingerprinting for credentialing
  • Ability to work full-time, 35-37.5 hours weekly with variable daily shifts (contingent on assigned school schedules)
  • Flexible and adaptable to travel between multiple sites within the district
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services under the supervision of an OT, supporting students’ access to educational programming
  • Implement intervention plans, track progress, and document outcomes across various age groups and abilities
  • Contribute to IEP development by gathering data and providing feedback to the educational team
  • Support students individually and in small groups targeting fine motor, sensory, and functional life skills
  • Foster positive relationships with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary staff to promote student success
  • Maintain organized records and documentation in compliance with district and legal standards
