Position Overview:
ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) for a full-time, school-based opportunity in Newport News, Virginia. The COTA will work within a school district, supporting students across the K–12 population with their occupational therapy needs and helping them develop the skills necessary for success in the classroom and daily school activities.
Responsibilities:
Provide school-based occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
Implement individualized treatment plans and support students in achieving their IEP goals.
Assist students with fine motor development, handwriting, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and functional classroom skills.
Support students in developing independence with school-related activities of daily living.
Monitor and document student progress and therapy sessions.
Collaborate with supervising OTs, teachers, special education staff, and other members of the IEP team.
Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with school district requirements.
Qualifications:
Active Virginia Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license.
Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
Pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
Ability to work collaboratively within a school-based special education team.
Passion for helping students reach their developmental and educational goals.
