Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join a supportive school district in Port St. Lucie, FL for the 2026-2027 school year. In this role, you'll work under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist to provide therapy services that help students develop the functional, fine motor, and sensory skills needed to succeed in the classroom. This position emphasizes collaboration with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to promote student growth and independence.

  • Schedule: Full-Time (35 hours/week)
  • Caseload: PreK-12
  • Dates: ASAP - June 1, 2027
  • Location: Onsite, 3-5 school sites

  • Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy services under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist in accordance with students' IEPs.
  • Implement individualized treatment plans to support fine motor, sensory, self-care, and functional skill development.
  • Assist with student observations, data collection, and progress monitoring.
  • Collaborate with Occupational Therapists, teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, therapy logs, and other required records in compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Assist with preparing therapy materials and adapting classroom activities to meet student needs.
  • Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Active Florida Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
  • Previous school-based or pediatric experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist.
