Embark on a fulfilling, full-time contract opportunity supporting students in a dynamic school-based setting in the Houston area (Southwest side of the city). This on-site role is ideal for Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) with strong backgrounds in pediatrics or extensive school experience. Candidates will assist an Occupational Therapist across 6-7 campuses within a designated zone, ensuring assignments are considerate of your location for manageable commutes.

You’ll work directly with a diverse student population ranging from ages 3 to 21, providing a mix of direct interventions and consultative services. Caseloads are thoughtfully managed, typically involving around 70 students, with 30-40 receiving direct services on a rotating basis. The position emphasizes collaboration—conducting evaluations, participating in ARDs, and meticulously documenting through district-supported software systems. Typical hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (with some variation such as 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.), allowing for consistency and work-life balance.

Key Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Texas required
  • Minimum of several years in pediatric or school-based roles
  • Experience conducting evaluations, attending ARDs, and managing IEP-related documentation
  • Familiarity with SHARES school health software, Onward, and Excel logging for therapist records
  • Fingerprinting required for district credentialing (if not already in place)

  • Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy services for preK-21 students in collaboration with supervising OT
